Plaza América Façade

This project consisting in the refurbishment of a façade completing a earlier nineteenth century housing block is developed through the lines generated from the mentioned old building. The tripartite composition of the old building, as well as the floor levels, windows disposition is kept and extended to the new façade using a contemporary language.  The main volume at the corner refers to the corner towers situated not only at the adjacent building but to all the buildings around the square creating special surrounding.

The proposal respects the classic composition seeking for a balanced integration, however this composition is refined into a conceptual ways. The ground floor level is configured as a lightness basement used as a commercial level and entrance for the building. This is the public part of the building related to the open air meanwhile a glass that communicates interior and exterior. The main central core of the building is formed by a neutral stone wall used as a base for the lattice including windows, balconies and viewpoints. The abstract composition is completed by a vertical transparent skin. The building is crowned by the lattice. This skin is prolonged to both horizontal and towards the adjacent buildings reaching the perfect integration.

As a conclusion this proposal is a composition with personality yet naturally and typologically integrated with his surroundings.
